Editor's Choice

Theoretically, the Health Care Reform package summary for United States’ citizens is that it will give more people more options for affordable choices. Everyone will have cheap or free government assistance, with or with out supplemental private insurance - if the visionary ideas of the 9 versions on Capitol Hill at this publication date are to be believed.

U. S. citizens have many options in keeping up with the daily changes and misinformation associated with the emotionally heated Health Care Reform debate.

Families USA: Minority Health

Minority Health is a website with quick facts on health disparities in the U.S. The website references America’s ethnic and racial minorities’ likelihood to receive lower quality health care regardless of where they live, their income level, or insurance status.

Such health care disparity should not be new news to the American public. Nor should this lack of equal access to health care for any American continue to be tolerated. Minority Health offers specific ideas for reducing health care disparities with their 'Health Care Reform Potential Tool.'

Kaiser Family Foundation Health Reform Spotlight

The KFF Health Reform Spotlight includes an up-to-date interactive side-by-side comparison of the different health reform proposals by the President and members of Congress. It includes key parts, like benefits, financing, state responsibilities, employer, employee, non-insured, limitations and more as the proposals’ details change with the political, financial, emotional, and Congressional voting tide on a daily basis.

The White House - Health Care Reform: www.whitehouse.gov

The White House launched the White House Health Care Reform web-page in February 2009. Daily updates appear in the blog at the upper right corner of the home page.

Within the site are the newly launched 'Reality Check' link and La Relidad: La Reforma Del Seguro Medico en Espanol. Both links were created to fight the spread of misinformation about many issues, including U.S. Health Care Reform proposal misinformation.

American Medical Association - AMA: www.ama-assn.org

The American Medical Association (AMA) keeps up-to-date news and timely, pertinent links to all news health reform related at their website. The AMA has long been the American public’s best advocate for patient-focused care.

All physicians take an oath to ‘first do no harm’ and when insurance companies refuse a drug because they think it costs too much, or a hospital policy is to turn away an uninsured or under insured patient - health care professionals’ hearts weep with patients, family, and friends. This news site carries great motivation to remain on the pulse of United States’ health care reform.

American Association of Retired Persons - AARP Bulletin: www.aarp.org

The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) offers daily email news alerts and links to sites like Health Action Now, and more. The website includes timely updates on what’s happening in Congress with the Health Reform proposals and the who’s who in lobbying each cause. Special attention is given to elder care and health concerns of seniors, COBRA coverage, Medicare, Medicaid, and more.

This is only a partial list of United States Health Reform online resources. Most of the websites and non-profit organizations shared here also have other website links within their web pages to other helpful internet sites. All the websites were active at the time of publication. Active links are subject to change.
