The company, Beco Baby Carrier has recalled their infant carrier "Beco Butterfly."
Beco Butterfly Infant Carrier RecallEvery mom knows what a blessing a baby carrier is. It enables her to keep her hands free while keeping baby secure while traveling. Front facing baby carriers are often used as mothers enjoy a day around town walking. Mothers trust that the carrier will provide the safety and security that their babies require and depend upon the strength and durability of the straps and buckles that fasten the carrier. However, the company, Beco Baby Carrier has recalled their infant carrier “Beco Butterfly.” Beco Carrier and Styles Included in the RecallThe carriers were sold through high-end specialty shops and cost an average of $140.00. The recall is limited to the USA as well as the Dominican Republic and all of the carriers were produced, marketed, and sold under the brand “Beco Baby Carrier Butterfly.” You can identify the carriers included in the recall as they have a black label with a green “b” located on the left side. The right side of the carrier has a butterfly emblem. However, there were several different carrier styles or fabrics; all of which have been included in the recall. These styles include the Pony Express, the Carnival, the Addison, the Ethan, the Joshua, the Ava, the Cameron, the Sophia, and the Mia. If you have purchased one of these carriers you are advised to stop using the carrier immediately. Reason for the Infant Carrier RecallManufactured by Beco Baby Carrier Inc., in Newport Beach, California, there were approximately 2,000 carriers sold between the months of January and February 2008, before the recall was initiated. The recall is voluntary, however Beco Baby Carrier, along with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, has recommended that everyone stop using the carriers immediately. As of this date, there have been eight reports of the straps on the carrier slipping through the buckles that are located on the shoulder and becoming loose. Thankfully, no babies have been reported to be injured; however with the slack carrier shoulder straps, the recall was enacted due to the fact that infants could slip from the carrier. Due to the faulty manufacturing, the company, Beco Baby Carrier Inc., is recommending that you return the carrier to their company, where they will make the needed repairs on the shoulder straps to ensure that it will not become loose.
